Hello Fellow Gymnastic Coaches!

As the summer comes to a close there are some important issues we need to address in preparation of the

phasing in of the vault table.

After meeting with the MSHSLeague and the Vault Table Committee it was apparent that the Association needed time to provide more education and opportunity in regard to the vault table.  Because of this we are no longer looking at the 2003-04 season as the phase in for the vault table.  However, with 12 out of 21 states providing the vault table at the 2003-24 state Tournament, we also have to recognize that Minnesota must move forward for their athletes and programs.

In an effort to bring our Association together on this issue and to provide a safe and knowledgeable process the coaches association is working to provide the opportunity for coaches and athletes to gain experience.  These opportunities will include a morning and afternoon session at our fall coaching clinic in October along with mini workshops at clubs and schools that already have the vault table.  More information on the mini clinics will be forth coming.

The league has asked that we have the coaches voice their opinion on the implementation process for the

2004-05 season.  This phase in process would mean that the vault table could be used during the season for dual meets and tournaments as well as being available at the state tournament as long as a vaulting horse is also made available.

We need your input.  If you could please fill out the following questionnaire and return it by Friday

September 12, 2003 to Kim Miklya either by fax #952-431-8282, email: kimberley.miklya@district196.org  or mail it to her at 13303 Georgia Drive. Apple Valley, MN55142, it would be greatly appreciated.  A report needs to be submitted to the MSHSL by September 18, 2003.  Your immediate attention to this questionnaire would be appreciated!

Thank you very much!
